GAME JAM

  1. 1 Introduction

  2.

CORRE CAIMAN is a game designed to help a 2 level Spanish student practice in subjunctive conjugation. The game is about an alligator called Juan who is trapped in a zoo and the student/player must help the crocodile to return home by completing the maze levels and answering the right conjugated verbs so he can meet the loved one. There is a total of ten level in the game and the player must avoid bumping into obstacles to return home successfully. The user plays through the maze with the mouse.

  1. 2 Team

  2.

My team was called team alligator. There was 5 members, but one never showed up on the first day so it was just me Judy Conor and Irene. Me and Judy was the game designers. We had to make the levels in the game and Conor and Irene were the language translators they did business language in their college, so they knew all the Spanish and how to do them verbs. Me and Judy watch few YouTube tutorial on how to make the blocks move. And different shapes on a PowerPoint. We also used Illustration on the I Pad to make the crocodile.

  1. 3 Organisation and planning

  2.

We as a team made a Miro board and we put all our ideas into it. We also made a group chat so we could contact each other during the three days. Irene came up with the plan of the game. She from Spain and they used to play game like these when they were kids. This is a link to the brainstorming we did for them days. Judy then export the game so it will be on the itch website for people to play and have fun. and there is a video to show how to play the game if people are finding it hard to get pass the levels.

 4 Process/ Production

I was responsible for making the Maze. And the colour scheme of the game. It was hard a few times because when testing the game kept getting too fast to play and the alligator was moving all over the place. so I just had to reduce the speed in the animation movement in the PowerPoint. I had to put the music in the game. me and Judy made path river so it looks like a jungle with green and dark green as the grass with block of shape in the maze. we also made nets so it can be hard for the player to make the next level of the game. so if you hit the net the player has to go back to the stared of the level again. Conor made sure the level was reposing in the game because there was so much glitch every time when playing the game. over all we worked together and got the game going.

  1. 5 Lessons learned

The lessons I learned from this game jam. Is that I had to working with different people from other nationalities. And I never really understand what the game jam was about. I just closed my eyes and Jumped in. It was quite fun actually because I got to learn a bit of Spanish during the weekend. I can't wait to do it again next year plus making a game on PowerPoint was so good. i didn't even know it what possible you could make a game on a PowerPoint.
